Smoking Banned @ UptrendHits

India has some 120 million smokers — about one-fifth of the population. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in February 2008 said one in every 10 deaths in India from 2010 would be smoking-related.

India will mark the anniversary of Gandhi’s birthday (October 2, 2008) in a manner the famously ascetic Mahatma would have probably approved — by imposing the world’s biggest smoking ban; and in support to this; we, the management and staff of UptrendHits will henceforth adhere to a self-imposed ban on smoking in and around our office premises.

Hope, this leads to better healthier life for all of us.

UptrendHits is based in Chennai and founded by Ren and Ezhil (myself) during the year 2005. We specialize in Internet Marketing and our services includes Search Engine Marketing, Social Media Optimization and Viral Marketing that’ll help acquire more customers and sales for any online business.

200 rupees is nothing to the new middle classes, so in the end it’s the just poor ones who take the pain. Thus, global democratic values prevail.

  2. Ezhil Says:

correct; but this fine will go up if caught violating the law more than once…

  3. Ren Says:

I quit smoking almost the same time of this ban and good encouragement for me, trying to influence others…..

  4. Karthik Says:
